A peaceful forest home in the heart of Kočevje

Hiša Molnar is a welcoming, two-level house set in a quiet, green neighborhood just outside Kočevje. Surrounded by forests and open meadows, plus a small orchard around the house, it offers a calm place to slow down, be active and enjoy the simple beauty of nature. Just above the house, there’s a small farm where you can sometimes get fresh eggs and cottage cheese, adding a lovely local touch to your stay.

The space & amenities

The apartment comfortably accommodates up to 5 guests, with the option for 1 additional person on a mattress (upon prior request).

The layout stretches across two floors and is accessible by stairs only, which is important to keep in mind for guests with limited mobility or small children in strollers.

On the main floor, you’ll find:

• A fully equipped kitchen with an oven, stovetop, kettle, coffee machine (capsules provided), and basic ingredients like coffee, sugar, salt, and spices, and a bigfridge with freezer located in a separate space
• A round dining table for shared meals
• A cozy living room with a large sofa, a wooden rocking chair, and a TV (with Voyo, YouTube, and local channels)
• Access to a long balcony with a comfortable seating area to enjoy calm and starry nights
• A bathroom with washing machine
• A bright bedroom with a large wardrobe and a comfortable bed (200 x 190 cm)

Upstairs:

• Another master bedroom (190 x 190 cm) with wardrobe and blinds
• A small living area with a sofa bed (190 x 90 cm), which can also accommodate an extra mattress
• A second kitchenette (mainly for coffee preparation) and a dining table
• A music system for relaxed evenings

Outside, guests can enjoy a covered terrace, a simple outdoor dining setup, and even try cooking with a traditional “sač” oven. Depending on the season, you’re welcome to pick fruit from the trees around the house.

Location & surroundings

The house is located in a peaceful rural setting just a 10-minute drive from Kočevje. The area is known for its untouched nature, vast forests, and rich wildlife.

It’s a wonderful base for:

• Hiking and cycling through forest trails - the famous Bear paw trail goes nearby (Pot po medvedovih stopinjah)
• Birdwatching and wildlife spotting (including bears in their natural habitat)
• Swimming at Kočevje Lake nearby
• Day trips to the Kolpa River (about 30 km away)
• Even a longer day trip to the coast, which is around 1.5 hours away

If you’re looking for a place where nature feels close and present, this area truly offers something special.

Access & arrival

Guests can access the apartment independently via a keybox located to the left of the entrance door. 

Parking is available on-site, and the house has a fence around it.

• Pets are very welcome (up to 2 dogs)
  → Fee: €25 per stay
  → A pet bed is provided
• Heating is central, and the fireplace can also be used
• Please note that the stairs leading upstairs do not have a railing
